Midterm outcome of proximal fibular osteotomy for medial compartment osteoarthritis- a prospective study

<p class="abstract"><strong>Background:</strong> Primary osteoarthritis of knee is one the most common degenerative conditions associated with disability. With more varus medial compartment and early presentation. High tibial osteotomy (HTO) technically demanding major complication like neurovascular injury, iatrogenic fracture, nonunion. Practically HTO longer bed immobilization difficult to take bilateral condition.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Methods:</strong> We treated 38 patients 54 knees proximal fibular for primary excluding other condition secondary inflammatory from January 2017 December 2017. Pre operative assessment done on standing antero-posterior (AP) X-ray injury outcome score (KOOS). Post opening joint line space AP KOOS score.<strong></strong></p><p class="abstract"><strong>Results:</strong> Patients PFO, there was change in weight bearing axis, space, improvement pain, functional assesses score. 8 experienced some catchy pain swelling deterioration score.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Conclusions:</strong> PFO simple, cost effective can be surgical treatment option Osteoarthritis irrespective age, though a greater number follow needed, initial results are very promising majority few shows comparison but overall patient’s satisfaction index good.</p>
